This character, as with all of the Disney licenses, is made exactly to Disney’s specifications. Steiff must follow strict guidelines as far as color, size, accessories, materials, etc. This licensed character has been created and designed, as required by Disney, in the exact likeness from the animated films and is approved by Disney.

The History Of Paper Plush

At the end of World War I, Steiff was faced with a lack of mohair, wool and similar plush materials.
Always innovative, the company found ways to produce bears and animals with a substitute paper-based material from 1919 through 1921 — until traditional Teddy bear materials were again available.
Nearly 90 years later, after extensive research and development, Steiff rediscovered the technology to produce paper plush — a manufacturing technique that had been forgotten over time. This plush made a comeback in 2010 with a special replica exclusively for Steiff Club members.

Since that time, it has been used for a number of limited editions.
Paper plush is not like mohair plush in look or feel. It has a unique appearance and texture since it is woven from paper strands and not woolen threads.
