POPE BENEDICT XVI

Pope Benedict XVI passed on December 31, 2022. As the 265th Pope, he was the head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State until he retired in February 2013.

Over the years, Hermann-Spielwaren has created several remarkable Teddy bears to pay homage to important persons around the world. This limited edition Teddy bear pays tribute to the first Pope elected in the 21st Century with many fine details inspired by Benedict himself. Hermann took great efforts to make this limited edition Teddy bear special as Pope Benedict was born in Germany.

The Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI 19078-1 Memorial Teddy bear is crafted from a rich antique golden curly mohair.
He is stuffed with excelsior wood shavings by hand using traditional techniques and he is a growler to make those official proclamations as Pope.

He is dressed with a white cape, head cover and stole with gold brocade trim that was inspired the vestments worn by the Pope in many of his public appearances. Around his neck he wears a golden pectoral cross.

His foot paw pads are each beautifully embroidered. The right paw is embroidered with the name of the Pope and his dates along with the individual edition number. The left paw is embroidered with Pope Benedict’s intricate coat of arms in full color.
