BOYDS WITHDRAW
BOYDS BEARS WITHDRAW FROM AUSTRALASIAN MARKET.
This is not good news!
Boyds Bears are now no longer available to the Australasian market.
After several years of building up the Boyds popularity again after they pulled out of our local market place after the retirement of the previous Australian distributor, the news that they are withdrawing from the global market to concentrate on their USA business came a s great shock and disappointment to us.
I am sure there will be many of our members quite upset by this news as well.
Our friend Bruce Gilbert, the Boyds NZ based Australasian distributor for the past few years was as shocked as we are with this decision.
He rang me from NZ with the sad news and has sent me the following official announcement.
6 March 2007
Bear Marketing Ltd would like to advise its retailers that we will no longer be stocking and distributing The Boyds Collection Limited products in New Zealand and Australia.
Boyds has decided to focus on its US core base business. Following on with ceasing operations in Europe and the UK, Boyds is no longer going to use a distributor to distribute Boyds products to New Zealand and Australia.
As per the agreement between Bear Marketing and Boyds, Boyds will soon re-purchase the entire stock of Boyds products for export back to the US.
Bear Marketing has enjoyed distributing the outstanding design and quality Boyds products over the past four years. We wish Boyds success as they concentrate on their home market.
Dave, Jan and Troy – thanks for all your support over the past three years and we will look you up on our next visit to the Blue Mountains. Until then, have fun with the bears. It has been a pleasure working with all of you.
Regards, Bruce & Carolynn.”
We still have very good stocks of the Boyds Bears in particular the very collectable signature and heritage editions plus many designs in their quirky dressed bears.
Also Bearstone collectable figurines, we have a great selection but like the plush bears when they run out that is it.
So if you are a dedicated Boyds collector get in soon before they are all gone and just another part of teddy bear history in Australia
