HERMANN COBURG ROYALTY COLLECTION
Queen Elizabeth II. In Memoriam Bear – 8th September 2022
Made in Coburg/Germany, The hometown of Prince Albert,
the Great-Great-Grandfather of Queen Elizabeth II.
Hermann Coburg have long been associated with the British Royal Family with ties going back several generations to the time of Elizabeth’s Great Great Grandfather.
In this time they have hand made many special bears for the events in the lives of the Royals, many of these editions are now prized by collectors as highly valuable, very sought after bears most have appreciated in value many times their release prices.
I believe that this bear marking the end of her incredible life will be the most valuable of all.
Hermann have selected a very special fur for this bear, considered in the industry as the finest, richest and softest curly long pile mohair available, the colour of course is a rich Sky Blue, the Queen’s favorite colour.
It is called KID MOHAIR and I have included some extra information about this fur below the bears details.
She is firmly hand filled with high quality polyester filling and has been given blue eyes like Queen Elizabeth II, these are rare in the bear industry, something Hermann has reserved for members of the Royal Family
Each Bear is individually numbered within an open edition with the individual edition number embroidered on the left paw
This fully 5 times jointed bears is sized: 35 cm = 13 ¾ inches
The right paw is embroidered with the Coat of Arms of Queen Elizabeth II and the Queen’s initials E II R.
The left paw is embroidered with “In Memoriam”, the name Queen Elizabeth II, the date 8th September 2022 and the individual edition number.
The Bear wears a 3-row white wax pearl necklace, referring to the 3-row pearl necklace, which Queen Elizabeth has worn on many official occasions.
A Special “In Memoriam” 40 page booklet is given with each bear.
In this illustrated book Hermann have used their Teddy Bears to draw in chronological order some outstanding events in the Queen’s life, events, which they have produced special Teddy Bear editions for 20 years – such as birthdays, throne anniversaries and much more.
The In Memoriam Book is wrapped in a book cover made of dark blue fabric.
The book cover is valuable embroidered in gold colour with the silhouette of the British Royal Crown and the Queen’s initials.
About Kid Mohair
The hair of the Angora goat is called mohair.
Depending on the age of the goat and thus the diameter of the goat hair, the mohair fiber is divided into “kid”, “younger goat” and “adult”.
The younger the animal the finer the hair.
The first shearing of a goat is called “Kid Mohair”.
The hair is particularly fine and can therefore be curled particularly well.
Since this first shearing can only happen once in the life of an Angora goat, the kid mohair fiber is not only particularly valuable and expensive because of its fineness, but also because of its comparatively low availability.
Curly mohair plush made from kid mohair was developed by plush weavers in the 1990’s.
Today, this quality is only rarely offered by the weaving mills to the bear industry since the kid mohair wool on which it is based is hardly available anymore and the price of the fiber on
the stock market has multiplied.
The longer the pile hair is, the more valuable the mohair fur is.
